If you’re gonna be flying in the US, check with the TSA (transportation security administration). Click on the link for Permitted and Prohibited Items for a list of things they’re allowing on.
In Canada, check the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority’s website.
The rules are not the same for both countries – so make sure you check the right site.
You can also check with the airlines. Most of them should have the restrictions somewhere on their websites. I flew Northwest (in the US only).. here’s their information.
